|SUCCESSFUL START FOR THE NEW TEAM
A solid start to the 2010 season for me. I teamed up with Stefanie Michl for our first event together in Morocco at the Lalla
Meryem Cup. Stefanie had endured a 20+ hour flight from Australia, and needless to say, the tank was empty. I had
already gotten my work done by the time she arrived, so there was no need for her to come out until Tuesday. After a
nice practice round on Tuesday afternoon, it was just a light practice on Wednesday getting ready for the first round on
After opening the round with a double bogey 6, Stefanie got the job done by coming in with six birdies to score a 68 and
a share of 2nd place. The second round was steady at even par for 15 holes until three straight bogeys left us with a 75 to
end the day. Needless to say, dinner didn't taste very good that night. Fatigue had set in and with one final round to go
before a three week break, Stefanie was in great spirits. Steady play in the last round produced an even par 72 that left
us with a share of 15th place. Not a bad showing for our first event. Along with her play in New Zealand and Australia,
Stef had produced a nice run of events to begin 2010.
Our next event is a team event, the European Nations Cup in Denia, Spain at the fantastic La Sella Resort. The tournament
is from April 22-25. Stefanie will team with my former player, Nicole Gergely, representing Austria. They will be part of 18
countries vying for the title. It should be a blast.
I will be spending time in Portugal until then as the sun is out and the warmth has come early.
